Hon. Justice William Ouko was appointed on 14th May, 2021 and assumed office on 21st May, 2021 as a Judge of the Supreme Court. He heads the Supreme Court Physical Infrastructure, Security, Corporate Social Responsibility and Welfare Portfolio.
Prior to his appointment, he served as a Judge and the President of the Court of Appeal, and Judge of the High Court. He joined the judicial service in 1987 as District Magistrate II (Professional) rising through the ranks to the positions of Chief Court Administrator of the Judiciary, and Registrar of the High Court and Accounting Officer for the Judiciary.
Hon. Justice William Ouko was the Chairperson of the Sub Committee of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) mandated to mitigate Covid-19 in Kenya’s Justice Sector (2020). He participated in various judicial reform initiatives as Chairperson of the Judiciary Transformation Programme Implementation Steering Committee (2011-2012); Chairperson of the Task Force on Judicial Reforms (2009), and Member of the Delinking Committee of the Judiciary. He was also the Joint Secretary in the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Goldenberg Affair. He was awarded the National Honours of the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) and Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).
Hon. Justice William Ouko is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, Post-Graduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law, and Master of Arts in Criminology & Criminal Justice from Egerton University.
